Paul Revere, Messenger of Revolution, McCormick

https://hobbylark.com/collecting/Bicentennial-Vintage-Patriots-Series-Decanters-by-McCormick
Paul Revere, Messenger of Revolution,  McCormick Distilling Co ... Boston, the largest city in New England in  1775,  was in turmoil. Being punished by the British Government for its part in the Boston Tea Party, the port was closed and blockaded by the British fleet. There also was a suspicion in the minds of the revolutionary clique in the city that the British Government intended to seize munitions and supplies the colonial rebels had stockpiled at Concord. The government hoped by this action to prevent fourth colonial revolt.  Paul Revere a silversmith, was to be the messenger to carry word of British troop actions to Provisional government leaders at Concord as soon as the British Route could be determined.  Paul Revere had become a silversmith, following his father in the trade. The family being Huguenot, had fled France when Protestants had faced prosecution in their home land. This probably instilled in the mind of the young man a love of liberty.  Whiskey Decanters by McCormick, Weston Missouri, McCormick and the Patriots, Ben Holladay, Bicentennial collectibles, Bicentennial Decanters, Bicentennial souvenirs, the spirit of 76, the Revolutionary war, the war of independence.

Patrick Henry, Orator of the Revolution, by McCormick

Patrick
Henry, Orator of the Revolution, by McCormick Distilling  Company, the
American Porcelain Company ... A tense uncertainty had gripped the
British colonies in North America since the Boston Port Act had been
passed by Parliament in March 1774. The colonists had reacted to this
burdensome port closure by organizing a provincial government body
called the First Continental Congress which met in Philadelphia.
Virginia had choose the young and audacious Patrick Henry as one of that
colony's delegates. He had already gained fame as the lawyer for the
colony in the celebrated "Parson's Cause", as a member of the Virginia
House of Burgesses representing the Piedmont area, and for his part in
opposing the obnoxious Stamp Tax. He had become a favorite politician of
the back-country small farmer and attempted to justify their faith in
him.  Though the early years of the Revolution, Patrick Henry struggled
with the organization of Virginia's government while opposing attempts
of the Continental Congress to usurp the rights of his state. He also
defended George Washington from the intrigues that tried to put command
of the Continental Army in other hands. Whiskey Decanters by McCormick,

Putting up Christmas Lights on the Old Victorian

Putting up Christmas Lights on the Old Victorian ... Christmas lights
(also known as fairy lights) are lights used for decoration in
celebration of Christmas, often on display throughout the Christmas
season including Advent and Christmastide. The custom goes back to when
Christmas trees were decorated with candles, which symbolized Christ
being the light of the world;[1] these were brought by Christians into
their homes in early modern Germany. Christmas trees displayed publicly
and illuminated with electric lights became popular in the early 20th
century. By the mid-20th century, it became customary to display strings
of electric lights as along streets and on buildings Christmas
decorations detached from the Christmas tree itself. In the United
States, it became popular to outline private homes with such Christmas
lights in tract housing beginning in the 1960s. By the late 20th
century, the custom had also been adopted in other nations, including
outside the Western world, notably in Japan and Hong Kong. Throughout
Christendom, Christmas lights continue to retain their symbolism of
Jesus as the light of the world

The wording "high fidelity" is commonly used in reference to many of the early Curtis Mathes stereos and televisions consoles. These masterpieces had electronic amplifying and recording systems designed to reproduce radio programs and recorded material with the highest quality commensurate with the current engineering techniques of the late 1950s. To do this, the system was to be built and capable of handling all sounds within the range of the human ear, from about 30 to 15,000 vibrations, or cycles, per second. This spectrum of sound, which is approximately the range of tones produced by a symphony orchestra, must also be reproduced with a minimum of distortion, that is, be free from any harshness or deviation from the clarity of the original performance.

Vintage 1930's Nativity Scene, made in Italy ... A nativity scene (also
known as a manger scene, crib, crèche (/krɛʃ/or /kreɪʃ/, or in Italian
presepio or presepe) is the special exhibition, particularly during the
Christmas season, of art objects representing the birth of Jesus.[1]
While the term "nativity scene" may be used of any representation of the
very common subject of the Nativity of Jesus in art, it has a more
specialized sense referring to seasonal displays, either using model
figures in a setting or reenactments called "living nativity scenes"
(tableau vivant) in which real humans and animals participate. Nativity
scenes exhibit figures representing the infant Jesus, his mother, Mary,

John Hancock, 1976 Bicentennial Decanter Made by McCormick

John Hancock, 1976 Bicentennial Decanter Made by McCormick. John
Hancock made his Signature very large. It was July 4, 1776. Philadelphia
steamed with more than the sticky heat of midsummer as the delegates of
the thirteen colonies to the Second Continental Congress assembled.
Having herd the succinct but brief statement of philosophy and
grievances, they crowed forward to put their signatures to the document.
The first signature, with its great flourish, was that of the President
of the Congress. Tradition has it that as he signed, John Hancock
commented, "Let King George read my name without his spectacles, and let
him double the price he has on my head!"Bicentennial collectibles,

Mr. & Mrs. Claus and the Knee-hugger Elf's Home at the Victorian

Mr. & Mrs. Claus and the Knee-huger Elf's Home at the Victorian ... Christmas season is coming upon us soon, and Santa and Mrs Claus Have joined the Knee Huger Elf's ... Many of the now popular vintage Knee Huger Elf’s were made by Napco, and Yuletide Company of Japan throughout the 1950s and 1960s. They did an excellent job with their Elf’s and became very popular in the United States and Canada during this era. The Yuletide Company of Japan was one of those amazing companies that were part of the rebuilding of Japan peace time manufacturing after World War II. Companies like Napco, Yuletied and Dakin with the help of the United States government during the occupied period were able to retool and build new peace time manufacturing centers in Japan. The new Christmas holiday based Japanese factories that manufacturing of toys and novelties such as Napco, Yuletide and Dakin were part of restoration of Japans economy during this era.
The first year for production of the smaller, made-for-the-consumer Santas was 1957. The 15 inch Santa Claus made in 1957 was the first item Harold Gale ever aimed at Christmas shoppers, rather than department store displays that he made. The smaller 15 inch Santa dressed in red satin with white go-go boots and a white belt is today one of the most widely listed Santas for sale on eBay. And amazingly seems to have been the most successful Santa in the Harold Gale line of products. At first these smaller Santas were sold at Sears and Roebuck, and as bonuses or awards for many items, including Stanley Home Products, Parker Pens, 7 Up, Teleflora, & Knox Hats. But by 1963, most department and gift stores were carrying them in their Christmas decorations departments during the holidays, and they were hard to keep on the shelf. Remarkably in the year 1960, Harold Gale was producing over 100,000 Santas, from the large, department-store size, to the smaller made for consumers. The number of the smaller Santas that are seen on eBay suggests volume got bigger every year throughout the 1960s, with the mid 1960s being the best years for the company.

Thomas Jefferson, Author of the Revolution, by McCormick

https://hubpages.com/games-hobbies/Bicentennial-Vintage-Patriots-Series-Decanters-by-McCormick            Thomas Jefferson, Author of the Revolution ... In the same year Thomas Jefferson was elected to Virginia's House of Burgesses, beginning a political career that was eventually to  carry him to the Presidency. Here he became an intimate of Patrick Henry, and it  was at this time the he wrote "A summary View of the Rights of British America." which  was to become a cornerstone of the ideals of the American Revolution.   Though well-know as a writer, Thomas Jefferson had a reputation as a poor speaker. So even as he came to be know as "the silent member" of the House of  Burgesses, and of both the First and Second Continental Congresses, his outspokenness and decisive actions in committees was legendary, especially in matters of colonial rights and independence. Yet he took theses green troops to relieve the Massachusetts Militia in their siege of Boston, and moreover, was able to hold seasoned British regiments in check until the colonists could organize themselves for the ordeal to come. Betsy Ross, We want You to Make a Flag for Us

Betsy Ross, We want You to Make a Flag for Us ... Betsy Ross 1752 to 1836, McCormick Distilling Co. Weston, Missouri, American Porcelain Company ... Early in June of 1776, Betsy Ross, A young Widower Keeper of a small upholstery shop in Philadelphia, received three distinguished visitors. Towering authoritatively, over six fee tall, was George Washington. Almost in his shadow came Robert Morris, Know for his liberal financial aid to the cause of independence; and ushering them in them in, the florid Colonel George Ross, member of the Continental Congress, eager signer of the Declaration of Independence, and uncle of Betsy's late husband John. It was his influence that had brought this secretly empowered committed to Betsy Ross's parlor.
With greetings and introductions completed, the three men came to the point of their visit. "We want you to make a flag for us." Betsy told the story to her grandchildren many years later how George Washington produced a drawing of what he and his committee thought the flag should be. She related how she had studied it and made suggestions: the stars should have five pints, not six; and all the stars should be equal in size and position .. in a circle ... so none of the newly united states should be jealous of, or claim superiority over the rest. Betsy's thought were accepted enthusiastically, and George Washington, pencil in hand, sketched the new flag as she described it. Thus the stars and stripes ere born! s Bicentennial collectibles, Bicentennial souvenir, the United States Flag,
